While everyone was watching the Best Buy chaos, a retailer quietly opened GTA 6 pre-orders for real. Full listing. Live buy button. Official price. 50 copies. Gone before most people even knew it happened. The location and the price will surprise you.
Italian retailer Showgame quietly listed GTA 6 for pre-order with full promotional details packed into the listing — cover art, release date, platform information, the works. The price: €69.90 before shipping. The allocation: just 50 copies. They were gone almost as fast as the listing appeared.
A Reddit user spotted the listing before it sold through, and the screenshot spread quickly. For a community that has been treating every retail update like a coded message from Rockstar itself, a fully detailed listing with a live pre-order button was seismic. And then it was gone.
Here is where it gets interesting. For months the GTA 6 pricing conversation has been dominated by a Dutch retailer listing the game at €99 — a number that converted to roughly $115 USD and sent the community into a full panic spiral. The $100 game. The end of affordable gaming. The discourse was endless.
Showgame listed it at €69.90. That is not a small difference. That is €29.10 cheaper than the Dutch listing — and it sits much closer to the current €70-75 standard for premium AAA releases in Europe. If Showgame’s number is accurate, the $115 panic may have been significantly overblown.
Two retailers. Two countries. A €29 price gap. One of them is wrong.
— 56ViceLane analysis, May 19 2026Showgame is not the only retailer making moves. Scandinavian retailer Elgiganten has reportedly been displaying GTA 6 pre-order marketing materials in physical stores — meaning staff have been briefed, point-of-sale materials have been printed, and the infrastructure for a full pre-order launch is already in place on the ground in Scandinavia.
Retailers do not print floor marketing for games that are not imminent. The logistics of in-store materials — design, print, shipping, placement — happen weeks in advance. Elgiganten was ready before anyone announced anything.
Suddenly, after months of almost complete silence, GTA 6 is appearing everywhere at once. Italy. Scandinavia. An Italian PS5 store that briefly showed pre-orders before going dark. The silence is cracking.
Take-Two Interactive reports to investors on Thursday May 21. Every retail signal pointing at pre-order infrastructure being ready, combined with an earnings call where investors will demand clarity on the biggest release in the company’s history, creates a very specific window.
Pre-orders. Official pricing. Possibly a new trailer. Thursday is the most likely moment for all of it to become official. Not confirmed — but the smoke has never been thicker.
Showgame’s €69.90 and the Dutch €99 listing are both unconfirmed retail placeholders. Rockstar and Take-Two have not announced official pricing. When they do, 56ViceLane will have it immediately. Watch Thursday’s earnings call.
